Merseyway launches Christmas Stars campaign to celebrate inspirational Stockport residents
We are asking the community to nominate friends, family, work colleagues, key workers and volunteers who they feel deserve to be rewarded for their kindness, resilience or creativity during 2020.
Nominations can be made on behalf of anyone of any age and could include our fantastic NHS staff and key workers, local volunteers, carers, teachers who inspired during lockdown, fundraising children, neighbours who have supported each other or artists or musicians who have brought joy during an uncertain time – there is no set criteria other than to celebrate those we have been inspired by during 2020.
Eight people will be selected to receive a bespoke Christmas present from the centre and their name will feature on a large gold star as part of Merseyway’s Christmas decorations.
To nominate your Christmas Star just email their name, age, a little bit about them and a reason why you would like to nominate them to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for entries is Sunday 22nd November 2020 at 5pm.
Victoria Nichol, Merseyway Centre Manager said: “2020 has undoubtedly been an incredibly challenging but we’re really keen to shine a light on all the positive stories that have come out of this year and the inspirational people behind them. We want to recognise and reward them on behalf of our local community. We’d encourage as many people as possible to nominate their Christmas Stars and these can be family members, colleagues, neighbours or anyone you feel has made a difference, no matter how big or small, on a personal or community-wide level.
“This year our plans for Christmas will be quite different to previous years and our focus is very much on celebrating our local community at this time and giving something back to those who have given so much.”
