We offer free electric mobility scooters and wheelchair hire from our Guest Services Lounge. Pre-booking is required ahead of your visit, especially during busy periods. (You can book up to 1 month in advance.) Please call 0161 480 2839

Please note that you will be required to provide a photo ID and proof of your address to hire the equipment.

Free mobility scooter and wheelchair loan service

Service Overview

• The Shopmobility Service provides free daily use of mobility scooters and manual wheelchairs to help visitors access Merseyway Shopping Centre.
• The service operates 7 days a week during the Centre’s normal opening hours.

Eligibility

• Users must be aged 16 or over to operate a mobility scooter.
• All users must complete a registration form and induction before their first use.
• Equipment use is at the discretion of the staff or volunteers on duty.

Booking Procedure

• Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Advance bookings can be made by calling 0161 480 2839
• Only one piece of equipment per user can be booked at a time.

Equipment Use

• All equipment must be returned before the centre closes the same day.
• Scooters and wheelchairs are for use within Merseyway Shopping Centre and its immediate surroundings only.
• Equipment may not be lent or transferred to another individual once booked.
• If you feel unwell or unsafe, please stop using the equipment and notify a staff member.

User Responsibilities

• Users are responsible for:
  • Safe and respectful operation of the equipment.
  • Returning equipment in the same condition it was issued.
  • Reporting any faults, incidents, or damages immediately.
• Misuse or neglect may result in suspension of access to the service.

Safety and Liability

• Staff will carry out basic safety checks daily and before issue.
• Shopmobility staff will demonstrate safe use and provide an induction.
• The Shopmobility Service accepts no liability for accidents, injuries, or damages caused by misuse or unsafe operation.
• Users agree to use the equipment at their own risk.

Cancellations and Late Returns

• If you are unable to attend a booking, please call to cancel as soon as possible.
• Late return of equipment may result in other users being affected and may lead to a temporary suspension from the service.

Data Protection

• Your personal details will be used only for Shopmobility registration and safety purposes.
• Information is stored securely and not shared with third parties unless required by law.

Amendments

• These terms may be reviewed and updated periodically. The latest version will always be available at the service point.

Agreement

By using the Merseyway Shopmobility Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
